2026 Annual Members' Meeting Recap

The Coast Rifle and Pistol Club held its Annual Members Meeting on February 1, 2026, at the main clubhouse, drawing 58 members—the largest attendance in at least six years. The meeting focused on annual reports, elections, the overall state of the club, and a review of major technology initiatives, with an upbeat tone reflecting a year of record-setting performance.

State of the Club

Club leadership reported that membership and finances are both at all-time highs, marking 2025 as the most successful year in the club’s history. Financial results for the year showed:

  • 2025 Income: $364,914

  • Operating Costs: $57,150

  • Expenses: $243,032

  • Net Income for 2025: $64,731

  • Bank Balance (as of meeting date): $312,403

These results represent the strongest financial position the club has ever achieved.

Member Recognition

Several members were recognized for their contributions and service.



Member of the Year
was awarded to Austin Curry for his outstanding service as a Steel Challenge match director and his significant support of the new ClubExpress membership system.

The members passed a motion to honor past president John Oren with a commemorative plaque at Range 1, recognizing his long service and leadership. An identical plaque will be sent to him in Iowa, where he now resides following retirement.

Retiring director Gerald Forbes was recognized for 10 years of dedicated service on the Board of Directors.

Elections

Members voted to fill open leadership positions:

  • Mike Sharpe was elected President, filling the unexpired term of John Oren.

  • James Comer was elected Director at Large 1.


Technology & Communications Highlights

A significant portion of the meeting focused on technology initiatives that have modernized club operations and member communications:

  • The AI Safety Briefing, launched in July 2024, has now been viewed by over 570 new members, strengthening onboarding and safety education.

  • The ClubExpress system, launched as the club’s new website on October 10, 2025, has already seen nearly half of all members log in.

  • More than 150 new members have joined through online registration, with nearly $100,000 in dues and new-member fees collected automatically, requiring no manual processing by the club.

  • A redesign of The Firing Line newsletter was also discussed as part of ongoing improvements to member communications.

The meeting concluded in approximately 35 minutes, reflecting a well-organized agenda and strong member engagement. Overall, the Annual Members Meeting highlighted a year of exceptional growth, financial strength, and successful modernization, positioning the club well for the year ahead.
